New York – Police are investigating the death of a woman of 32 years, mother of two daughters, after undergoing a treatment of plastic surgery in a clinic in Miami, today reported local media.
Nikisha Lewis, a native of the caribbean island of Antigua, he died of a cardiac arrest after practicing this Monday an aesthetic treatment in the clinical Spectrum Aesthetics, picked up the tv channel 7 News, Miami.
The authorities have not provided yet the type of cosmetic surgery treatment that Lewis received in the above-mentioned clinic, nor that that kind of medical complications she suffered during the operation, and forced the center staff to relocate the emergency to the Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he later died.
Spectrum Aesthetics specializes in treatments for increasing size of breasts and buttocks, the so-called “brazilian butt lift”.
This case of death by a treatment of cosmetic surgery is in addition to the registered in 2016 in Miami, for a treatment for the buttock augmentation.
The so-called “brazilian butt lift” which involves liposuction of fat from one part of the patient to inject in the glutes and increase its size, is one of the operations most commonly applied in this type of clinics.
Lewis was worked in Spectrum Aesthtetics and was under the care of a doctor Rami Ghurani.
In a press release, Julia Ingle, attorney of the practitioner, pointed out that the doctor was “deeply saddened by the loss of his patient” (…) and that it “provided the highest level of attention (Lewis), as he does with all his patients.”
Miami is one of the capitals of plastic surgery in the U.S., so it is not rare that the complications in operations for aesthetic reasons jump to the media, more so if the result is the death of the patient. EFEUSA
